The World Needs to Impose Further Sanctions to Myanmar Military Regime

Updated: Apr 21, 2021

Currently, Burmese people’s strategy is working ( CDM, Recognition of CRPH and economic sanctions by the U.S and democratic allies). But we need more economic pressure to topple the regime. Currently, western business groups, namely European, American, British, Italian and French chambers of commerce, rejected the regime’s invitation to meet on March 4.

We need more countries to speak up and impose economic sanctions such as India and ASEAN. The U.S and western countries must lead to impose global Arms embargo, freezing assets of the relatives of the generals and forbidding business transaction of more banks controlled by military regime. Burmese people in the U.S must demand members of Congress in corresponding district to act on legislation.

We must also prevent the junta from accessing the vital oil and gas revenue paid into and held in banks outside of the country as it accounts for more than a third of exports and a large share of tax revenue.
